Albuquerque Public Schools asked us to design a new Elementary School Gym on an existing brick building campus.

We conceived a contemporary building design which relates to the existing campus with an added “updated” new concept that includes natural light and steel structural elements. Subtle use of horizontal banding of the masonry reflects a theme from adjacent buildings.

A ball wall on the outside allows for free play. Mechanical equipment is screened from the children by a whimsical wall with friendly openings.
