Over the years we have designed the passive solar art studio addition shown here, assisted with a major kitchen remodel, and – completely invisible – a ground source heat pump which involves heating and cooling the house with heat exchangers drilled into the ground.  This technology is in wide use in Canada and we have used it successfully at the Abiquiu Clinic as well.  The system replaces natural gas as a fuel and can be run even more cleanly with Solar PV panels which in this case were not an option.
